Setyo is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the School of Systems and Computing of the University of New South Wales. He holds a PhD in Systems Engineering (2025) from the University of New South Wales. Previously, he received his Bachelor of Industrial Engineering (2016) and Master of Industrial Engineering (2019) degrees from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia, and a Master of Industrial Management (2019) degree from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taiwan.

His research focuses on the intersection of operations research, transportation science, and computational intelligence methods, particularly evolutionary algorithms. Some of his works have been published in highly reputable publishing avenues in these areas, such as IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, Swarm and Evolutionary Computation, Computers & Operations Research, and Computers & Industrial Engineering. Throughout his career, he has developed in-depth knowledge in logistics and healthcare management.

He is also the Co-Initiator and a Board Member of OPSID, a community of young Indonesian researchers in operations research and operations management. From this initiative, he is always open to mentoring young students (Bachelor/Master levels) to pursue higher education.

His research activities can be found on his personal webpage: https://sites.google.com/view/setyotw
