Sophie Cotton is Lecturer in International Political Economy, in the School of Social Sciences, UNSW. Her work focuses on the internal connections between imperialism, capital accumulation, migration, ‘race’, class and gender, with attention to the material foundations of social oppression and the sociology of work and labour markets. She holds a Ph D in the political economy of migration in Australia. Her work as an education focused academic is guided by critical pedagogies, critical university studies, and the classroom as a moment within social transformation for students and teachers alike.
