Dr Sunaina Gowan is a Lecturer in Management and Unit Convener for Organisational Behaviour (OB) in the School of Business at UNSW Canberra. Her core research examines exclusion after inclusion - understanding why individuals and groups may continue to experience marginalisation, emotional strain, or a reduced sense of belonging despite organisational diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Her research explores how organisations can develop the capabilities, leadership practices, and learning environments needed to foster genuinely inclusive workplaces. She is particularly interested in the roles of workplace learning, leadership development, and organisational change in supporting meaningful and sustainable inclusion.

A complementary area of her scholarship focuses on environmental sustainability and management education, examining how business schools can prepare future leaders with the knowledge, values, and capabilities required to address complex sustainability challenges.

Her research seeks to bridge theory and practice by generating insights that help organisations, educators, and future leaders create more inclusive, responsible, and sustainable workplaces.

Dr Gowan completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management at Western Sydney University and welcomes enquiries from prospective Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates, particularly those interested in diversity and inclusion, workplace learning, leadership, organisational change, sustainability, and management education.
