
I am a narrative and simulation researcher, a writer|director and an academic. I am interested in the different types of sense-making activated through live and mixed reality simulations and how they impact collectively on situation awareness. My interdisciplinary investigations into live simulation and immersive environments focus on information processing and narrative design in these contexts from a neuroscientific perspective. I enjoy collaborating with industry to help find and design immersive solutions.
I obtained my Doctoral Degree from UTS Sydney, winning the UTS Chancellor's Award and am currently the Academic Lead for the Master of Simulation and Immersive Technologies in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture.
My academic research and teaching endeavours are complimented by an extensive professional career in the Australian Performing Arts as an Artistic Director. I have an extensive background as a writer, director and creative producer across a variety of live media practices – including performance, live art, media (radio and television drama), hybrid and interdisciplinary arts. Many of my productions have been presented nationally and internationally, and I have been awarded nationally for my seminal work with cultural diversity in the Australian Arts.
