Dr Tian Wang

I am a research fellow within the Surgical & Orthopaedic Research Laboratories (SORL) at UNSW. My work involves close collaboration with academic, clinical, and industry sponsors, both from Australia and overseas. I have a broad range of experience, undertaking research projects that span basic science, the design and development of industry products, and addressing clinical questions that arise in daily research and teaching. My overarching goal is to lead and contribute to programmes that expand our knowledge and eventually improve patient outcomes.

My primary research interests lie in investigating the biomechanical properties and structures of bone and soft tissues, as well as evaluating novel medical devices and bone graft substitutes. I have significant experience designing and applying preclinical models and conducting regulatory testing of medical devices for Australian and international companies. I am also actively expanding my expertise in the study of human body kinematics and kinetics, with a particular focus on the spine, shoulder, hip, and knee joints.

In addition to my research activities, I dedicate myself to mentoring the upcoming generation of researchers. I have held supervisory or co-supervisory roles for students from various faculties within UNSW and other national and international universities. I also contribute by providing equipment training to other research staff and HDR students across the engineering, materials science, and chemistry schools at UNSW.
