How to apply to UNSW with your SAT results

  1. Check if your SAT score meets the entry requirements.
  2. List up to three degree-preferences in your application.
  3. Accept your offer and pay the deposit before the expiry date.

Apply with your SAT score

You can apply for undergraduate study at UNSW Sydney if your SAT score meets the entry requirements for your chosen program. Applications can be submitted via Apply Online before completing high school. To secure an early offer, students need to share SAT results through the College Board portal (College Board Code for UNSW: 9026) and provide a school letter that meets the criteria outlined below.

Our direct entry table shows the minimum SAT requirements for undergraduate degrees.

  • Students who meet program entry requirements based on their SAT results are now eligible to receive a full or conditional on English offer ahead of their final high school result and proof of and completion of high school studies. Results and proof of high school completion will be required no later than the UNSW term commencement date and must be submitted as soon as they become available. This change aims to support students in lodging timely visa applications and re-establishes opportunity to commence their undergraduate studies as planned.

Additional requirement – enrolment or expected graduation letter

In addition to sharing SAT results with UNSW via the College Board portal, students must submit a letter from their school meeting the following minimum criteria:

    • printed on official school letterhead
    • bears the official seal of the school
    • includes the student’s full name and date of birth
    • specifies the current stage of study (e.g., Year 11/12)
    • states the expected graduation date
    • specifies the name of the final award or test (e.g., US High School Diploma, Chinese High School Graduation Certificate, Indonesian SMA Certificate)

    Eligibility

This assessment policy is only available for students completing Year 12 high school qualifications recognised by UNSW for direct entry. It excludes:

    • post-secondary diplomas
    • foundation programs
    • unregistered/informal home-schooling up to Year 12
    • GEDi
    • Singapore polytechnics
    • Canadian OSSD delivered online
    • any other bridging or access program

Receiving an offer

We assess applications in group round offers. If you meet the entry requirements (via SAT or another recognised qualification), you’ll be ranked by academic merit. Offers are then issued based on this ranking.

Who receives an offer?

  • The top-ranked applicants in each round receive a full offer.
  • The next group of applicants are waitlisted and considered again in the following offer round.
  • The number of offers issued each round depends on how many places are available in that program for that intake.

You may list up to three degree-preferences in your application. This increases your chance of receiving an offer to study at UNSW.

To maintain applicant equity and improve access for high-quality students, a grouped offer round process applies to all our undergraduate programs. Offers made in each round reflect program capacity. Applications submitted before the application deadline for a specific grouped offer round will be ranked based on academic merit and offers will be made to the top-ranked applicants.

Get more information about our admissions process.

Accepting your offer

Your offer will include an expiry date. To secure your place, accept the offer and pay the deposit before it expires. Once you accept your offer, UNSW will issue a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). Your CoE enables you to apply for an Australian student visa.

If you receive an offer based on your SAT score, you must later provide proof of completing high school. You should upload this via Apply Online as soon as you receive it from your school and no later than the census date of your starting term.
