What you'll learn
Open Data Platforms and Licences for Cities
This short course provides an introduction to open urban big data, that includes aspects like licensing, analysis, visualisation, citizen science and participatory planning.
By completing this course, you will:
- Examine the definition of open data, along with its core principles and benefits and understand how open data can be used to create value.
- Explore the rationale behind various open data licenses and analyse their implications for how you can use the data you work with.
- Develop practical skills using Colouring Australia – examining the various data capture methods used on the platform and exploring the different use cases for the datasets available.
Digital Twins and 3D Tools for Urban Planning
By the end of this course, you will have developed both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently understand, model, and visualise urban data. You will gain experience with key 3D technologies, including GIS and database management systems, while building a critical understanding of how these tools are applied in practice within an evolving global context.
You will also be able to critically evaluate the processes and role of 3D modelling in the creation of urban digital twins, and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of 3D modelling and visualisation applications and their capabilities.
