Course summary

All you need to know about cyber in 3 days

This course provides an overview of key capability and program management documents, including Capability Program Directives and Operational Concept Documents, Program Strategy and Management Plans and processes for Gate 0, 1, and 2 requirements and gap identification.

Participants will also explore Joint Capability Needs Statements, Project Execution Strategies, Business Cases and the Smart Buyer Framework, gaining the tools to plan, assess and manage capability programs effectively.

Who will benefit

  • Students with previous Defence Capability Management experience or have completed the Defence Capability Management Course – Fundamentals, who work in or intend to work in Sponsor and/or Delivery agencies.

Grant also has hands-on experience in developing, deploying and maintaining complex software applications.
  • Currently, as Industry Specialist at UNSW's Capability Systems Centre and Founder and CEO of Oscillo Labs, Grant applies his operational knowledge to address complex system integration and delivery challenges. With masters' degrees in Systems Engineering, Project Management and Capability Management, he brings practical insights into both technical and strategic aspects of modern complex system management and product development.

This course provides a practical introduction to capability development and program management within Defence and operational contexts. Participants will gain an understanding of essential documents and frameworks, including program directives, operational concept documents, strategy and management plans and the Smart Buyer Framework.
