Want to know how to nail job interview questions?

We asked top employers to divulge one of the interview questions they pose to job applicants. Our students tackled the questions headfirst as Nicolas Chu (Professor of Practice at UNSW Business School, Founder & CEO of Sinorbis), Christina Chun (Entrepreneur, Director at Walker Advisory), Sapna Patel (Founder & CEO of ImmiAdvisor) and Blair Slater (UNSW's Head of Student Academic & Career Success) gave us their feedback. Take a look at our students' responses, and what employers are really looking for when you answer these questions.

  • What are your weaknesses?

This is one of the most common job interview questions you'll face. How you answer can tell a prospective employer a lot about you.

  • Where do you see yourself in five years?

This interview question is one of the most used in Australia (and the world!). Just because it’s a common question, doesn’t mean your answer can’t stand out.

  • How many doors are there in Australia?

Graduate careers service FDM Group threw us a curveball of a question. Take a leaf out of our students’ books and take a curveball question like this in your stride by showing creativity and out of the box thinking.

  • If you were to architect or create a positive future, what aspect of the world would you want to contribute to for positive outcomes?

Capgemini is a company dedicated to designing for the future. They ask their applicants how they plan to shape the world.

  • Teach us a talent you have (any talent) in under three minutes.

Job interviews are an opportunity for you to shine and tell employers what makes you special (and the perfect fit for that job).

Multinational professional services company Deloitte shared this unique question where you can show what makes you special, in under three minutes.

  • Describe a time where you have helped someone else to realise their full potential.

How you interact with others can tell a prospective employer a lot about you and whether you’d be the right fit for a role.

Multinational company Unilever stepped up and shared a question on that can be used for various jobs.
