SpeakUp Strategy & Campaign
About the Strategy
The SpeakUp Strategy is UNSW's shared commitment to building a culture where respect and integrity thrive. It empowers every member of our community to understand the behaviours expected under the UNSW Code of Conduct and Values - and gives them the confidence, tools and reporting pathways to speak up when something isn’t right. The Strategy sets out a clear action plan of initiatives, communications, and training designed to build a psychologically safe environment where speaking up is encouraged and supported.
SpeakUp branding and campaign messaging
SpeakUp campaigns actively promote the expected behaviours outlined in the UNSW Code of Conduct and Values, while driving initiatives to strengthen staff and leadership capability to model and embed these behaviours across the University.
In 2023, following consultation with students and staff, the SpeakUp brand was developed, with the overarching campaign message of: “Want to speak up? You’ve got our Support”. The students and staff engaged during the consultation process were diverse groups from across the UNSW community and included students and staff of different genders, cultures and sexualities, students at different stages of their studies as well as academic and professional staff from a range of faculties and divisions.
