Meet Cliffy McAuliffe
Antarctic Station Supply Officer
About Cliffy
Cliffy is an Antarctic Station Supply Officer. She helps keep Australia’s Casey research station running in one of the most remote places on Earth. She looks after a huge warehouse called the Green Store, making sure everyone has the food, tools and equipment they need to live and work safely in Antarctica. From toothbrushes to tractor parts, Cliffy makes sure it’s available.
Cliffy’s path to Antarctica began in the Royal Australian Air Force, where she worked with aircraft and cargo. During one trip to Casey Station, she worked closely with the station’s supply team and quickly realised this was where she wanted her career to go. She asked questions, learned everything she could, and then applied for the job. Now she’s doing work she loves.
Every day is different. One moment she’s organising food deliveries, the next she’s helping scientists safely pack ice samples to send back to Australia. Her job relies heavily on STEM skills like organisation, logistics, problem-solving, and understanding scientific requirements.
When she’s not busy in the Green Store, Cliffy enjoys spending time with friends, heading to the gym, crafting, or visiting nearby field huts to enjoy the icy views. She hopes to return to Antarctica many more times in the future. Her favourite part of the job is knowing that her work supports science, teamwork, and discovery in one of the most extreme places on Earth.

“My favourite part about my job is working with everyone on station and that no two days are ever the same.”
