Meet Tessa Grayston
Playground Designer
About Tessa
Tessa is a playground designer, which means she creates fun playgrounds you see in parks all over Australia! She loved designing things when she was at school and even started learning how to become a cabinet maker. But one day, someone suggested she look into something called industrial design, and Tessa was hooked!
She went to university to study urban design, and when she finished, she applied for a job designing playgrounds. She got the job, and she’s never looked back. Now, Tessa spends her days dreaming up cool play areas that challenge kids while keeping them super safe. In Australia, playgrounds have very high safety rules, and Tessa enjoys solving tricky problems to make sure everything is fun and safe.
When she’s not designing playgrounds with tunnel slides or working with the manufacturing team to figure out how things fit together, Tessa likes to relax at home. She loves painting, fixing up old furniture, and trying her best to learn guitar.
Tessa hopes to use her design skills in lots of different industries as she keeps growing in her career. Her favourite piece of playground equipment is the monkey bars, because Tessa loves to challenge herself.
