Too Late to Say Thank You
Honouring the legacy of the late Douglas Cham.
The late Douglas Cham, an acclaimed ceramicist, photographer, and proud graduate of UNSW’s College of Fine Arts (now UNSW Art & Design), dedicated his life’s work to exploring culture, identity, and belonging. His practice combined artistry with storytelling, often weaving together his family history and experiences as a Chinese Australian.
What we didn’t know during his lifetime was that Douglas had also chosen to include UNSW in his Will. Through his generosity, his gift will support postgraduate students in Art & Design for at least two years, fostering the next generation of creative thinkers and makers.
Douglas’ gift speaks volumes about his values and vision.
“His legacy will live on in the creativity, resilience, and innovation of UNSW students who follow in his footsteps”
“The hardest part for us is that it was too late to say, thank you”
Gifts in Wills are the fastest growing source of philanthropic support in the world today. As people live longer and their children also become independently wealthy, more people are supporting their favourite charities by leaving something in their Will. For many, it becomes the most meaningful gift they ever give.
At UNSW, we’re here to answer questions and support anyone considering this special kind of legacy. And if you’ve already included UNSW in your Will, we’d love to hear from you so we can thank you and welcome you into our community of legacy supporters.
We would love to be able to discuss with you how you would like us to use your gift and, most importantly, to say, “Thank You”.
We would also love to invite you to become a member of a growing group of passionate and committed supporters. And, if you are just considering a gift in Will, please contact us for a respectful and confidential conversation.
You can create lasting opportunities for future generations by including UNSW in your Will. For more information, contact Janet Hall at giftsinwills@unsw.edu.au or +61 478 492 032.
