Our purpose

The aim of AERI is to accelerate breakthroughs in diagnosis and to develop precision‑based treatments.

The Ainsworth Endometriosis Research Institute (AERI) takes a consortia‑based approach to sustainable, programme‑driven research, creating a continuous pipeline of scientific discoveries to accelerate clinical trials and translational medicine. By focusing on genomic research, biorepositories and advanced testing, AERI will fast‑track new insights into endometriosis, helping to move beyond current medical limitations. This will result in new avenues for early diagnosis, novel precision-based medical treatments and informed decisions regarding care.

Why dedicated research matters

“A dedicated research institute has the capacity to deepen our understanding of the different types and stages of endometriosis, moving beyond a one-size-fits-all approach like laparoscopy to more comprehensive, long-term treatment strategies.”

– Ms. Adele Sheers, patient of Prof. Abbott

“Like many others, endometriosis has affected my education, my career, my relationships, my family, and dictates how I go about each and every day. This reality is shared with millions of people living with endo around Australia and the world. We believe this can change. The Ainsworth Endometriosis Research Institute is more than an exceptional research institute; it is hope. Hope for those living with endometriosis now and in the future, that they will be able to live full, happy and healthy lives.”

– Lily Ainsworth
