Student verification requests
For graduates and former students of UNSW Medicine & Health programs
If you are a graduate or former student of a UNSW Medicine & Health program and need to verify your qualification, studies or program-related information, UNSW offers a range of official documentation and verification services.
This page outlines the available options and helps you identify the most appropriate service for your needs.
-
Depending on what you need, the following services may be relevant:
- Graduation Register – The UNSW Graduation Register allows employers and other organisations to verify UNSW graduates from 2000 onwards. This is a free service.
- Pre-2002 qualification verification – For qualifications awarded before 2000, submit a Verification of Qualification request.
- Academic transcripts and testamurs – The Official Documents portal provides official copies of your academic transcript and other qualification documents. Documents can be sent directly to you or to a nominated third party.
- Qualification verification – UNSW Verification of Qualifications provides verification services for employers and other external organisations seeking confirmation of your studies or qualifications.
- Award and Enrolment Statements – Statements and Letters provides official statements and letters, including confirmation of completion.
-
My eQuals
My eQuals allows graduates to securely share digitally verified UNSW documents with institutions and third parties. These may include your testamur, academic transcript and Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS).
ECFMG and EPIC verification
For graduates seeking medical registration or employment internationally, additional verification requirements may apply.
- ECFMG certification – ECFMG certification is relevant to international medical graduates seeking to enter the US health system.
- EPIC verification – EPIC provides primary-source verification of medical credentials for physicians and organisations worldwide.
Requests relating to ECFMG, EPIC, medical registration, clinical placements, or other information held specifically within the Medicine program are referred to the appropriate team within the Faculty of Medicine & Health.
For these requests, please contact the Medicine & Health Teaching Support Team on BMed.PM@unsw.edu.au.
-
You may be asked by an employer, registration authority or other organisation to provide a “verification or confirmation letter from your medical faculty or medical school.”
Does the letter need to come from the Faculty of Medicine & Health?
Not necessarily.
UNSW Medicine & Health is part of UNSW. Therefore, a verification or confirmation document does not necessarily need to be issued specifically by the Faculty, Medical School or clinical school.
Where an organisation requires confirmation of your qualification, enrolment or completion of studies, an official document issued by UNSW, on official UNSW letterhead and appropriately authorised, may be sufficient.
-
Before requesting a letter, check the requirements of the organisation requesting your documents. In particular, check whether they specify who must issue the letter.
If they do not specifically require the document to be issued by the Faculty, Medical School or clinical school, an appropriate official UNSW document may be sufficient. See the documentation and verification services listed above.
For requests involving information that is held specifically within the Medicine program - such as certain medical registration applications, clinical placement confirmation or other program-specific information - contact the Nucleus: Student Hub in the first instance. Your request can then be referred to the appropriate Faculty team where required.
