Class registration
Welcome to Foundations of Biostatistics. This page summarises the different class registration options for this course. There are two main decisions you need to make:
1. How you will attend lectures: in person or online;
2. What software you will use to learn biostatistics: jamovi or R.

Lectures
All lectures are delivered in hybrid mode, which means you can choose to:
- attend lectures in-person in Colombo Theatre B
- join lectures live online (via Microsoft Teams), or;
- watch recordings of the lectures.
If you would like to attend lectures in-person, you should register for:
- 11781 (LEC A - In person) if you are a post-graduate student, or;
- 11786 (LEC A - In person) if you are an undergraduate student.
If you would like to watch lectures online (either live or recorded), you should register for:
- 11782 (LEC B - Online) if you are a post-graduate student, or;
- 11787 (LEC B - Online) if you are an undergraduate student.
Tutorials
Tutorials are delivered online. There are no attendance requirements for tutorials, and you can choose to attend online tutorials live or watch recordings in your own time.
Tutorials are separated depending on which software package you choose to use: jamovi or R. More information about the software used in this course can be found here.
You only need to register for one tutorial class:
- 11783 for post-graduate students, or
- 11788 for undergraduate students.
Separate Teams invitations will be provided for jamovi and R classes.
Software troubleshooting sessions
This course offers optional software troubleshooting workshops on Friday mornings. Each session will be held in person, with an option to book an online appointment. The workshops will not be recorded.
If you would like to attend these workshops in person, you should register for:
- 11784 (WKS1 - In person) if you are a post-graduate student, or;
- 11789 (WKS1 - In person) if you are an undergraduate student.
We will also offer online troubleshooting appointments, which will be scheduled for the same time as the in-person sessions. If you would like to join the software troubleshooting sessions online, you should register for:
- 11785 (WKS2 - Online) if you are a post-graduate student, or;
- 11790 (WKS2 - Online) if you are an undergraduate student.
Note that registering for either in-person or online troubleshooting sessions does not compel you to attend these optional sessions.
