UNSW PhD Students Win Sydney Postgraduate Psychology Awards

We are very happy to announce that two of our UNSW PhD students won awards at the Sydney Postgraduate Psychology Conference held on 20 November 2013.

Melissa Black, whose talk was titled “Attenuating memory distrust in obsessive-compulsive checkers,” won the prize for the Best Empirical Presentation. This award was judged by academics at UNSW, Sydney University, Macquarie, and UWS.

Alice Towler, whose talk was titled “Does expert knowledge improve face matching performance? Evidence from anatomy and forensic photography students,” won the prize for the People’s Choice. This award was determined by votes of all attendees at the conference.

The SPPC is a conference for psychology postgraduate students at universities throughout Sydney, and 78 students presented at this year’s conference. Melissa Black works with Dr. Jessica Grisham, and Alice Towler works with Dr. Richard Kemp and Dr. David White
