A&D staff & graduates win Blacktown City Art Prize

UNSW graduate and Art & Design staff member Francois Breuillaud-Limondin has won the 20th Blacktown City Art Prize.

The prize was judged by Edmund Capon AM, OBE, former Director of the Art Gallery of NSW, Matt Poll, Curator Indigenous Heritage and Repatriation Project at Macleay Museum and local artist and curator Abdullah M.I. Syed, PhD.

Breuillaud-Limondin’s winning work Prisms was made using recycled easels and was praised by the judges as a multi-layered, multi-dimensional piece that references politics, architecture and the environment in an historical and social context.

The Local Artist prize was awarded to Master of Fine Arts graduate and staff member Alexandra Byrne for her drawing Lucas Road at Night (outside my place).

This year over 90 artworks across a range of disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, printing and ceramics were selected as finalists.

The finalists exhibition is on at Blacktown Arts Centre until 30 January 2016.
