Contextualising Context - what is it? A vital question for the HRIC 2016

A conference highlighting context and concepts in Human Resource Management (HRM) is to be held at UNSW Australia.

Karin Sanders, Head of School of Management and Professor HRM at the UNSW Business School, Co-Director, Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and organising the conference says, “this Australian-hosted International Conference of the HR Division of the Academy of Management (HRIC) creates a forum to exchange views, review lessons learned and identify emerging challenges from an Asian‐Pacific perspective.”

“The HRIC also provides opportunities to share work-in-progress and network with colleagues from academia, industry and government. We invite scholars from around the world to share their ideas on all aspects of HRM – not just those directly related to the conference theme.”

Co-hosted by the UNSW Business School and AGSM, the HR Division of the Academy of Management (AOM), Centre for Workplace Excellence at the University of South Australia, and Monash University, the conference will feature Professor David Guest (Kings’ College, London, UK), Professor Fang Lee Cooke (Monash University) and Professor Cheri Ostroff (Centre for Workplace Excellence, University of South Australia), among many leading academics.

The conference starts with a symposia presentation on “A cros national comparison of sexual harassment training”, and covers issues as diverse as “Reciprocation embedded in leader-member exchange: the role of belief in reciprocity and power distance orientation” and “Highlighting discretionary decision making: understanding how employees react to regulated work contexts”.

A welcome ceremony, with Professor David Lepak (Chair of the HR Division), and Professor Karin Sanders (hosting this conference), and Professor Chris Styles (Dean of the Business School, UNSW) will take place on Sunday, 21st February 2016.
