Globally renowned banking and finance authorities will debate key issues, share research and discuss disruption in the global financial system at the Australasian Finance and Banking Conference.
Globally renowned banking and finance authorities, including Dr Augusto López-Claros, Director of the World Bank Global Indicators Group, plus many other Australian and international monetary experts and senior government executives, will debate key issues, share research and discuss disruption in the global financial system at the Australasian Finance and Banking Conference.
Now in its 29th year, the conference connects business leaders, world-class academics and senior practitioners.
An initiative of the Institute of Global Finance and School of Banking & Finance at the UNSW Business School, the Australasian Finance and Banking Conference will be held from the 14th to 16th December 2016 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney.
The UNSW Business School’s Professor Fariborz Moshirian, the Director of the Institute of Global Finance, said in past years the conference had been successful in bringing together the world’s foremost thought leaders from the financial community. “The Australasian Finance and Banking Conference is the most prestigious finance conference in the Asia-Pacific region.”
The high-level conference will discuss the main challenges affecting the banking and finance industries in the Asia Pacific region, and what this means for Australian markets. Up to 300 delegates from 30 countries are expected to participate in the conference.
The Forum will include the launch of the World Bank report Doing Business 2017.
The Doing Business project is a tool that decision-makers can use to reduce regulation, enhance competitiveness and increase global interdependence. It provides context for analysing the current global financial and economic issues facing nations.
Dr Augusto López-Claros, Director of the World Bank Global Indicators Group, will launch the report. He will discuss the report’s findings, which span 190 economies and selected cities at the subnational and regional level. He will also discuss global interdependent forces that are influencing the direction of the international economy in the post global financial crisis era.
“The conference will examine the latest developments on risk around the world relating to the banking system, among many other subjects,” said Professor Moshirian, the conference convener. “It will put the spotlight on Sydney as a major financial centre in the region and explore the way Australia, as a regional hub, could assist the Asia Pacific to develop a more sophisticated regional financial system.”
“The launch of the World Bank report will be a major highlight of the event," he said. "It will reveal pertinent insights into global and domestic markets that will be of immense value to the Australian business community.”
