The Social Policy Research Centre hosted an international workshop on 16 October 2017 called 'Establishing Effective Child Protection Systems in the World - A Dialogue between Australia and China'.

Associate Professor Xiaoyuan Shang chaired the workshop, with SPRC Director Professor Carla Treloar welcoming delegates to the workshop. The delegation from China that attended the workshop included six senior policy makers from the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Ministry of Finance and a senior project manager from Save the Children International.

Professor Ilan Katz and Dr BJ Newton from SPRC, and Paul Brignall from the NSW Government Family and Community Services, introduced Australia’s child protection systems, child neglection, and out-of-home care to the international guests with a very productive discussion ensuing on these topics.
