Professor Nick Wailes, architect of the online MBAX and the leader of many of UNSW Business School's recent innovations for students, has been appointed Deputy Dean, Director of AGSM at the Business School.
In his current role as Associate Dean (Digital & Innovation) at UNSW Business School, he drove digital delivery of the curriculum in the Business School, the use of technology to increase opportunities for students (mentoring, internships, work-integrated learning) through platforms to deliver to thousands of students, and secured funding to establish an accelerator for student start-ups.
Prior to this, he was Director of the MBT (Master of Business, Technology) and AGSM Online which involved the development and launch of the very successful MBAX, UNSW's online MBA. The MBAX is now ranked 4th in the world by the Financial Times, and is the one ranked from Australia.
"For the past three years Nick has been Associate Dean (Digital & Innovation), leading many of the Business School's strategic initiatives that are transforming the way we operate," said Professor Chris Styles, Dean of UNSW Business School. "Nick also brings to the role extensive corporate engagement and networks."
Before joining UNSW, Professor Wailes was at the University of Sydney Business School where he drove initiatives in the MBA market after the AGSM joint venture between UNSW and Sydney was dissolved. He was pivotal to the development and launch of a Master of Management (now ranked 25 globally in the FT rankings), and the MBA.
"I'm delighted to have the opportunity to be (re) joining AGSM. I'm passionate about AGSM and the Business School building on their strengths to become the trusted learning partner for the next generation of leaders in Australia and the region," said Professor Wailes.
Professor Wailes will take up the role on February 1 2018, filling the space left by former Director Julie Cogin, who has moved to the University of Queensland to become Academic Dean of UQ Business School.
