On Thursday 6 June we hosted a conference to celebrate Professor William Dunsmuir's career.

The almost 100 attendees of Time Series: A Conference Honouring Professor William Dunsmuir socialised and enjoyed refreshments in the staff room before heading upstairs to RC-4082 where the conference program commenced.

Head of School Bruce Henry and Vice President of the Statistical Society of Australia Doug Shaw welcomed the capacity audience, before presentations were delivered by Sue Wilson (ANU & UNSW), Feng Chen (UNSW), David Scott (University of Auckland), Kylie-Anne Richards (UTS), and Richard Davis (Columbia University).

Professor Dunsmuir, who has been Professor of Statistics at UNSW since 1993 and Head of Statistics several times, closed the conference with a talk titled "Large sample theory for detecting the impact of marks in Hawkes self exciting point processes".

All of the presenters spoke of their collaborations and friendships with Professor Dunsmuir, and reflected on fond memories stretching back many decades. It was a warm atmosphere of celebration and gratitude.

We wish Professor Dunsmuir all the very best for his retirement, and thank him for his many years as a valued and esteemed member of staff at the School of Mathematics and Statistics at UNSW.
