Trevor McDougallWe are proud to announce that Trevor McDougall has been elected President of the International Association for the Physical Sciences of the Oceans (IAPSO).

IAPSO, which interacts with UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, is the primary body responsible for maintaining and improving oceanographic standards and practices. It has the prime goal of "promoting the study of scientific problems relating to the oceans and the interactions taking places at the sea floor, coastal, and atmospheric boundaries insofar as such research is conducted by the use of mathematics, physics, and chemistry."

Scientia Professor McDougall has previously held the position of Vice President of IAPSO.

Of Professor McDougall's recent election as President, Head of School Bruce Henry said "It is an extraordinary honour for Professor McDougall to be elected to this important position and it adds significantly to the UNSW reputation in Physical Oceanography".
