AGSM @ UNSW Business School regularly participates in several influential international and domestic rankings to (I) externally benchmark our programs against the world's leading business schools; (II) internally benchmark our performance across multiple metrics year-on-year; and (III) assess rankings results to continuously improve our programs and processes

“The AGSM Full-Time MBA program consistently ranks among the world’s elite global management schools,” said Nick Wailes, Director AGSM and Deputy Dean UNSW Business School.“ Good career outcomes are fundamental to our programs – and financial return on investment is one of the ways we can measure their success.”

“We are equally invested in ensuring our graduates are equipped to contribute to a progressive society,” Wailes said. “We recruit a diverse cohort of highly motivated MBA candidates and deliver a contemporary program that sets them up to make an impact – to enhance their career opportunities, move into a new industry, or start their own business.”

We constantly work to improve our programs and student services to ensure we stay ranked among the world’s best graduate schools. Important rankings indicators that improved in international rankings in 2019 include salary, value for money, career progression, alumni recommends, female students, female faculty.

Rankings methodologies vary and all are considering their assessment metrics to ensure MBA programs are being ranked on contemporary measures (global mobility, CSR, alumni impact, etc.) and not just on monetary results.

In the FT Global MBA Rankings, we performed very well on scores related to the diverse make-up of the cohort, opportunities for international mobility, international course experience and our CSR rank is just outside the top 50.

“In order to remain ranked among the world’s elite, we need to consistently perform exceedingly well across a range of metrics that assess alumni outcomes and satisfaction, faculty, international experience, international and diverse make up of students, PhD graduates, career outcomes, and research outputs to name a few,” said Wailes.

“We see the rankings as not only a measure of our performance relative to the best management schools in the world, but an opportunity to assess our programs and our capacity to deliver a world-class student experience, deliver a ROI, and continuously improve,” he said.

In 2019, AGSM participated in ten influential rankings:

Some of the new programs and services we have introduced in response to insight gained through our participation in MBA and Executive Education rankings include:

  • Joining the Global Network of Advanced Management (GNAM) to provide short-term exchange opportunities for our students and welcome international students to AGSM for short-term study
  • A revitalized and better resourced Career Development Centre
  • An annual Professional Forum; experiential learning experiences including Complex Adaptive Leadership
  • New Scholarships including the first MBA LGBTI Community Leadership Scholarship in Asia Pacific.

With our 2020 Full-Time MBA Cohort we have also achieved 50/50 gender balance (one of only five MBA programs in the world to achieve this diversity goal).

“AGSM has always been a program that attracts and celebrates diversity of gender, experience and thought”, said Dr Michele Roberts, AGSM Academic Director.

“By completely recalibrating our scholarship program, we attracted the best candidates – more globally mobile, higher GMAT scores, more community experience – than ever before. We are delighted to offer places on our MBA program to really exceptional candidates – half of whom are women,” she said.
