Two of our students awarded the University Medal

Congratulations to our former Advanced Maths students Allan Loi and Daniel Woolnough, who have each been awarded a 2019 University Medal in Applied Mathematics. 

The University Medal is one of the most distinguished awards to be bestowed on an undergraduate, and is recognition by the University of outstanding academic achievement. 

Allan and Daniel have both attracted several other honours and awards for their outstanding academic performances during their time as undergraduate students.

Allan, who undertook a dual degree in Advanced Mathematics and Actuarial Studies, received the Faculty of Science Dean's List Award for academic excellence in 2017, and UNSW Business School Dean's Awards in both 2015 and 2018.

He also won several School of Mathematics and Statistics prizes including the 2018 Buchwald Award for the best performance in Maths leading to Honours in Applied Mathematics.

Allan completed his Honours project under the supervision of Professor Josef Dick in 2019. He commenced a position as a trader earlier this year.

Daniel won the Faculty of Science Dean's List Award for academic excellence three years in a row (2016, 2017, 2018). He also received a Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Dean's List Award in 2016. 

Daniel completed his Honours year under the supervision of Vaithilingam Jeyakumar in 2019, and is currently working with Professor Jeyakumar as a research assistant in the area of Adjustable Robust Optimisation, which was the focus of Daniel's Honours thesis. He commenced a Master of Information Technology at UNSW in Term 1 of this year. 

A very big congratulations to both Allan and Daniel for this latest achievement in a long list of accolades!
