We run maths workshops for Experience UNSW Day

On Tuesday 13 April, we delivered two workshops on campus to high school students as part of Experience UNSW Day.

Approximately 40 Year 12 students from across Sydney attended the two workshop sessions. 

Our "Peter's Party Planning Problems" activity, designed by Yudhi Bunjamin and Dr Diana Combe, gave attendees an insight into the concept of Balanced Incomplete Block Designs. It was presented by Sean Gardiner. 

The workshop was modified slightly in order for it to be delivered in a COVID-safe manner, while still promoting an inspiring and engaging learning experience for the students. The workshop was very well-received by the participants.

Since the pandemic has prevented us from presenting in-person outreach over the past year, we were delighted to deliver these workshops on campus. It's also the first time we have offered "Peter's Party Planning Problems" since a seminar by Yudhi about the workshop's design was awarded by the B.H. Neumann Prize in 2019.
