Dr Muhammad Yasir is a Microbiologist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UNSW School of Optometry and Vision Science.

His work centres on investigating the mechanisms of action of new antimicrobials that he is helping to produce in collaboration with colleagues at UNSW School of Chemistry.

Dr Yasir is particularly interested in how these new antimicrobials (antimicrobial peptides and peptidomimetics) can prevent microbes from colonising biomedical devices, including contact lenses. His research has applications for preventing transmission of disease and reducing the incidence of hospital-acquired infections.
