UNSW Law & Justice alumna appointed as next ACT’s Supreme Court Chief Justice
Published on the 30 November 2021
Attorney-General of the ACT Shane Rattenbury announced the appointment last week. Justice McCallum became a NSW Supreme Court judge in 2008 and rose to the NSW Court of Appeal in 2019.
In her new role, Justice McCallum will put a spotlight on the criminal justice system and the over-representation of Indigenous people in jail.
Justice McCallum will begin her new role in March 2022, replacing retiring Chief Justice Helen Murrell, who is also a UNSW Sydney graduate and ACT’s first female Chief Justice.
