The Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct (RHIP) has formed the Student and Early Career Reference Group, a forum for the youth perspective to share ideas and provide feedback on the Precinct and redevelopment projects.
The Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct (RHIP) has formed the Student and Early Career Reference Group, a forum for the youth perspective to share ideas and provide feedback on the Precinct and redevelopment projects. Over the course of the next year, the group plans to inform how education opportunities and the needs of students can be incorporated into planning to shape the future of the RHIP.
The group is comprised of TAFE, university and early career professionals from a broad range of study areas including public health, medicine, exercise physiology, biomolecular science, radiography, nursing, business, civil engineering, dentistry and allied health.
Through bi-monthly interactive sessions, the group is given the opportunity to hear from industry leaders in education, clinical expertise, construction and infrastructure, and provide their thoughts and ideas on RHIP and redevelopment initiatives.
Co-Chair of the Student and Early Career Reference Group, Will Choy said being a member of the group presents a fantastic opportunity for future health professions to help shape the Precinct they will one day work in.
“As part of this reference group, we have the opportunity to engage with, canvas and listen to the ideas of students and early health career professionals. It’s been fantastic to have RHIP establish a group such as this, and meaningfully listen to the ideas of individuals whose careers will grow and progress alongside the Precinct,” he said.
“The group has so much to contribute and has some really innovative ideas when it comes to co-design and co-location. I look forward to seeing the direction the precinct takes in future.”
Over the past few months, students have heard from guest speakers on the RHIP strategy and governance, the Sydney Children’s Hospital Stage 1 and Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre, as well as the UNSW Health Translation Hub and the opportunities and benefits of co-location in the Precinct.
Next year, the group would like to turn their focus towards issues like integrating education at the Precinct, equity and accessibility for culturally and linguistically diverse communities, virtual care and strategy.
