UNSW School of Optometry & Vision Science congratulates PhD candidate, Fatima Iqbal who received a travel bursary award to attend the World Council of Optometry that was held in Melbourne from 7-11 September 2023. The OMEGA23/4th World Council of Optometry Conference was the biggest optometry conference held in the Southern Hemisphere. This travel bursary enables researchers to present their work recognising their outstanding contributions to the optometry field. Fatima is the first optometrist from Pakistan to be recognised with this award.
Fatima is currently undertaking her research on the structural and functional changes of meibomian glands under supervision of Scientia Professor Fiona Stapleton, Emeritus Professor Eric Papas and Dr Jackie Tan-Showyin.
