Jeffrey Yang has won the University Medal for Pure Mathematics. The most distinguished academic award to be bestowed on an undergraduate, the University Medal recognises exceptional achievement.

Jeffrey, an Advanced Maths/Computer Science student, completed Honours last year under the supervision of Associate Professor Anita Liebenau.

"In his thesis, Jeffrey significantly improves on a strategy of an intricate combinatorial game", said A/Prof Liebenau.

"His mathematical creativity, coupled with diligence, persistence, and technical mastery, has culminated in a result worthy of publication - a truly outstanding accomplishment in pure mathematics!"

A very warm congratulations to Jeffrey.
