UNSW Rugby have celebrated a standout 2025 season with two premierships, capped by a long-awaited 1st Grade Barraclough Cup victory, the club’s first top-grade title in 27 years.
Facing Petersham in the grand final, UNSW fought back from 12 points down to secure a tense 26–24 win. Tries from Dorahy (2), Havard and Bale, alongside captain Griff Williams’ three conversions, kept the side in touch. A decisive scrum penalty late in the match shifted momentum and delivered the premiership to UNSW.
3rd Grade also claimed silverware, lifting the Blunt Cup after an 18–8 result. Captain Patty Connor crossed twice, while Peter Ford added a try and a penalty to round out the scoring.
The premiership double caps a strong season across the club, with all six sides – 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Grade, Colts and Women’s – progressing to the semi-finals. Four advanced to grand final appearances, showcasing the depth and strength of UNSW Rugby in 2025. Future is looking very bright for the Ruby Club heading into 2026.
