This project is part of the UNSW Scientia PhD Scholarship Scheme

Successful applicants will receive an annual stipend and a one-off Global Mobility Grant to conduct international engagement activities.

There is an urgent need to develop more sustainable business practices that are aligned with emerging human rights due diligence (HRDD) legal standards and effectively utilise technological advances.

This PhD is part of a broader project on Transforming Business Practices in Global Supply Chains that identifies core components of business transformation in global supply chains that align profits with human rights.

The Phd should relate to how AI and emerging technologies can support transformation including by reshaping the way HRDD is implemented in global supply chains, but also where its limits lie, including when effective risk identification and remediation still need human judgment, community engagement, and on-the-ground expertise.

The research will generate innovative insights to inform theory and practice that support regulatory and industry guidance on HRDD and technology. The successful candidate will be supervised by Professor Justine Nolan, A/Professor Jonathan Bonnitcha and Professor Dorothee Baumann-Pauly.
