This research project looks at the application of emerging technologies to sound design, sonic interaction design and expanded music — the extension of recorded or live music to new listening contexts such as public spaces or adaptive multichannel environments. Those with a background in acoustics, sound design, music technology, music performance, sonic art, experience design and public art are invited to join a growing interdisciplinary research group interested in how digital media technologies continue to expand the role and the careful design of sound in our built environment. Project themes could include the integration of music and architecture, adaptive music systems, sound in public art, the use of sound in urban design, and sonic interaction design.
