Haoze’s research focuses on the study of fundamental properties of domain walls in ferroelectric and multiferroic materials for which he uses micro- and nanoscale focused ion beam (FIB) sample preparation and a wide range of scanning probe microscopy techniques.

Liang studies nanoscale properties of functional oxide materials, including complex oxide heterostructures and surface terminations of transition metal compounds, with a focus on high-resolution scanning probe microscopy techniques such as scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS) and KPFM in UHV environments.

Lei’s research focuses on understanding and improving nanoscale functionality of ferroic oxide – van der Waals material heterostructures by means of scanning probe characterisation methods. The reversible control of properties at these interfaces and its applicability to quantum and information technology devices is explored.

Yuwen’s research project investigates topological defects such as domain walls and skyrmions in antiferromagnetic, ferroelectric and ferroelastic correlated electron materials systems using cryogenic scanning probe microscopy and electron microscopy and spectroscopy techniques.

Tanzeela’s work includes nanoscale characterization of photovoltaic semiconductors and other light-responsive materials in the visible and infrared spectral range in bulk and thin film form by scanning probe microscopy, including nano-IR, under light illumination and in various environments.

Zahid’s research investigates nanoscale and microscopic properties of energy materials used in  battery and solar cell technology by various scanning probe microscopy techniques such as scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS) and KPFM in UHV and ambient environments.
