I am a clinician-researcher in the fields of anaesthesia and pain medicine. I am internationally known as an innovator and leader in regional anaesthesia, perioperative ultrasonography, and medical education with the aim of improving patient outcomes after surgery. I collaborate in research both nationally and internationally, and help develop policies and national guidelines that impact directly on patient care in Australia and New Zealand, Europe and North America.
I have over $4 million in grants from NHMRC, MRFF, ANZCA and the ASA to research priority topics in perioperative medicine. I am the co-author of the Oxford University Press Regional Anaesthesia Pocket Guide, and has contributed written modules for the University of Melbourne postgraduate ultrasound education courses, New York Society of Regional Anesthesia, chapters in regional anaesthesia textbooks, and peer reviewed publications.
