Dr David Corbet is an educator, designer, writer and curator, teaching at UNSW Art & Design and The University of Sydney. He heads a long-established design consultancy with diverse clients across many sectors and he teaches into graphic communication, spatial / experience design and history and theory streams at both postgraduate and undergraduate level. He has a PhD from the University of Sydney, with a research focus on trans-disciplinary visual cultures and global exhibition practice. He has graduate qualifications from UNSW; Central St Martins College of Art and Design (University of the Arts), London; and AFTRS Sydney, focussed on cross-disciplinary design practice and digital technologies. He has creatively led many projects as a designer, editor and curator and spoken at associated conferences, workshops and symposia. He has conducted extensive field research across Australia and southeast Asia; Latin America; Southern Africa and the Middle East, writing numerous articles about contemporary visual cultures, as well as editing and designing several books and exhibition catalogues. He is currently developing a multi-year postdoctoral research project focussed on migration, trade and cultural translocality.
