Ioannis is a Research Fellow at the School of Built Environment, University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia). In 2018, he was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Innovative Training Network (ITN) scholarship to pursue his PhD in Energy and Sustainable Development at the University of Perugia (Italy), under the supervision of Professor Anna Laura Pisello. He holds a Master's Diploma in Environmental and Applied Physics and a Bachelor's Degree in Physics, both from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece).

His research focuses on improving the energy performance, environmental quality, and sustainability of the built environment. His expertise spans urban climate mitigation and adaptation, passive cooling techniques, advanced building materials, and nature-based solutions to combat urban overheating. He is leading and contributing to laboratory and field monitoring campaigns, as well as multi-scale simulations to evaluate and optimize building- and urban-scale climate resilience performance. In addition to his academic career, Ioannis brings significant industry experience through various secondments and his role as a scientific consultant of bioclimatic design at DLS_Archigraf Architectural Office (Athens, Greece), bridging applied research with real-world design and implementation.
