Adjunct Professor

Dr Janet Newman

School of Biotech & Biomolecular Science

Dr Janet Newman received her BSc (Hons) from the University of Sydney, and her PhD from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, under the supervision of Carl-Ivar Brändén. After two post-docs and a stint in Biotech in the US Janet moved back to Australia to set up the Collaborative Crystallisation Centre (C3) for CSIRO in Melbourne.

Janet has been involved in many aspects of structural biology – developing new automation, designing new crystallisation screens and creating software tools. She has been a guest lecturer at many international courses, and is currently a Section Editor for Acta Crystallographica Section F and a Co-Editor for Acta Crystallographica D. She is a co-organiser of the Cold Spring Harbor Course in Diffraction Methods in Structural Biology.
