Dr Jared Campbell
Dr Jared Campbell is a Lecturer and translational bioscientist in the School of Biomedical Engineering at UNSW. His research combines label-free optical phenotyping, immunology and cell therapy to investigate how ageing, inflammation, metabolism and stem cell dysfunction contribute to chronic disease. He applies hyperspectral analysis of cell autofluorescence to assess cellular health, disease state and therapeutic response, with applications in reproductive ageing, mitochondrial disease, islet biology, stem cell biology and neurodegeneration. In parallel, he is developing durable immunomodulatory therapies based on engineered haematopoietic progenitors and CAR regulatory T cells, including strategies to generate antigen-targeted Tregs in vivo for long-term control of inflammatory and autoimmune disease. His broader program aims to translate optical diagnostics and persistent immune therapies into non-invasive prognostic tools and disease-modifying interventions.
