I am Hsu-Kang (Kenny) Dow, experienced in computer graphics System-on-Chip (SoC), wearable bio-sensor device development and team leadership across multiple national science projects as a research assistant under the direction of Prof. Ing-Jer Huang. Prof. Huang is ASE Endowed Chair Professor/Distinguished Professor of Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the director of Digital Content and Multimedia Technology Research Center in National Sun Yat-sen University. I am currently a PhD student at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), under supervision of Prof. Sri Parameswaran. My primary research target is on RISC-V memory security and approximate computation on Neural Network Acceleration.
For 3D graphics SoC, I have over five years of experience (2010-2015) on System on Chip (SoC) integration and firmware verification under a joint project of eight laboratories funded by Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST). The project goal is to design an advanced low-power 3D graphics SoC. My responsibility as a team leader is to coordinate system integration for both software and hardware. My principal areas of research are 3D graphics, OpenGL GLSL LLVM compiler, GPU simulator, and system integration. This team received the Excellent Team Award in 2013.
I also worked on the Internet of Things (IoT) project of wearable ExG bio-sensor SoC chip and software, joined by four professors including the Department of CS, EE and Sports Medicine from Kaohsiung Medical University. I work as a project manager and leader for integrating conductive fabric, analog-digital mix signal SoC and low power wireless communication. The primary objective is to promote state-of-the-art sensor technology from academics into a commercialised product. The product requires not only theoretical knowledge of biosignal pickup, filtering, analog-to-digital conversion and digital signal processing but also the abilities to integration product material for marketing. This project passed 3-years-evaluation (2015-2018) and promoted as the successful model for other junior teams.
