Lynne completed her PhD at the Australian National University, after moving to Australia from Scotland. After several postdoctoral positions (University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Australian National University and University of Strathclyde) she took up a lectureship at UNSW Canberra in 1999.
She currently teaches course contributions at all levels of the BSc Chemistry program, and is the Chemistry 1 laboratory coordinator.
Her main research interests include: synthesis and study of redox-active and luminescent transition metal complexes; applications of such complexes in sensor systems, light-activated molecular devices, supramolecular assemblies and therapeutic approaches; electrosynthesis of green energetic materials.
