Dr Oleksandra Molloy is a Lecturer in Aviation within the School of Engineering and Information Technology (SEIT), UNSW Canberra. Dr Molloy is the Aviation Program Coordinator, who is overseeing Bachelor of Technology (Aviation; SEIT) and Bachelor of Science (Aviation major/double degree; School of Science). Dr Molloy is also a member of Human Research Ethics Panel at UNSW Canberra. Dr Molloy is an academic and researcher in the areas of aviation and road safety, education/training, and human factors. Her specific area of research is training of young novice operators (e.g., drivers – in road research and pilots – in aviation research) to improve their non-technical (e.g., risk management) skills. In her research, she incorporates different methods and latest technology, including: driving/flight simulators, an instrumented vehicle, eye-tracking glasses, Mobileye tracking system, digital human modelling software, etc.
Dr Molloy has a PhD in Aviation (Science), MSc in Human Factors (Engineering), Master of Education/English, Bachelor of Education/English, Graduate Research Diploma in Theory and Methodology of Professional Education, and the PPL (A) licence. Her combined experience both in industry and academia in Australia and overseas is over 15 years. Dr Molloy is an Academic Mentoring Coordinator as part of WOMEN@UNSW Canberra initiative, as well as the WOMEN@UNSW Canberra Champions Program Coordinator for Early-Career and Mid-Career academic staff, and a volunteer in STEM within Australian Academy of Sciences. Oleksandra is a Program Chair in Training Technical Group of the Human Factor and Ergonomics Society (USA). Dr Molloy is a member of Chartered Institute of Human Factors and Ergonomics (CIEHF, UK), Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia (HFESA, Australia), Member at Royal Aeronautical Society (UK), nd Member at Women in Aviation (International and Australian Chapter).
Dr Molloy is always keen to collaborate with academics, industry and government professionals interested in the areas of aviation and road safety, driver training, human factors, and rail.
