Sukanya Rupa Ganguli
Rupa’s thesis aims to investigate the institutional dynamics of the high density housing market in the Australian context, specifically the roles of real estate agents in apartment production and the changing relationships between real estate agents and developers. The objective is to provide insights on the complexity of decision-makers and the networks mobilised to achieve pre-sales, a key requirement for construction financing. By focusing on Sydney, a metropolis with housing market characteristics akin to many other high growth global cities, the results will have implications for understanding the shaping of apartment markets in many other OECD countries. This thesis will be important for residential real estate professionals and government policy makers.
