Information for sponsors
At UNSW Sydney, sponsor organisations from over 30 countries invest for the future through sponsorship of students.

Sponsorships involve clear responsibilities for both sponsored students and sponsor organisations.
Sponsored students: International students who receive funding from approved sponsor organisations to study at UNSW. Sponsorship may cover tuition and living expenses. Sponsored students must follow UNSW’s policies and procedures, as well as Australian Government regulations that govern Australian universities and their international students.
Click here for more information about sponsored students.
Sponsor organisations: Also referred to as sponsoring authorities are government, not for profit or corporate entities that fund a benefactor's study, travel, living and incidental costs. These organisations must be recognised by UNSW before a student is considered for study. Students will then have access to direct tuition fee billing and other benefits provided to sponsored students. Students whose sponsors are not recognised by UNSW may still enrol, but they will be classified as self-funded students.
To become a sponsor organisation at UNSW, please complete the expression of interest form. Once submitted, we will review your application, and if successful, a member of the regional team will contact you to begin the registration and due diligence process. For any enquiries, please contact: sponsoredstudents@unsw.edu.au.
Admissions process
Supporting your sponsored students' application
The process for applying as a sponsored student is slightly different to our standard admissions processes. UNSW International student offer rounds do not apply to sponsored students. Instead, offers are issued on a rolling basis with an expected turnaround time of two to four weeks. Sponsored students’ offers do not have an expiry date but are encouraged to accept soon after receiving an offer to allow sufficient time for the student visa application.
Additionally, all offer letters will be conditional upon proof of securing sponsorship.
- Apply online: Applications must be submitted through Apply Online. It’s highly advisable for students to apply in advanced to allow time for sponsorship arrangements.
- Complete sponsorship section: Students must indicate that they will be sponsored and select the correct sponsor organisation from the list provided. The application fee will be waived for sponsored students’ applications from recognised sponsoring bodies.
- Upload documents: Students must provide relevant supporting documents such as transcripts and proof of English proficiency. Students are not required to submit preliminary Financial Guarantee letters or International Sponsored Student Assessment (ISSA) before an offer is made. These sponsorship documents can be provided later.
- Application assessment: The UNSW Admissions Office or the UNSW Graduate Research School will assess the students’ application. If the entry requirements are met, we will provide a conditional or full letter of offer with further instructions.
Supporting your sponsored students' offer acceptance
If your sponsored student has received an offer to study at UNSW, they will need to provide:
- International Sponsored Student Agreement Form (ISSA)
- Financial Guarantee Letter
- Completed and signed Acceptance and Declaration Form (for U18 and English Language packaged students)
Additionally, they will need to complete Accept Online Part 1 once the documents have been uploaded.
These documents will be verified and sent to admissions to issue CoE. Please allow 2 weeks' processing time.
If your sponsored student has any questions about accepting their offer, please email sponsoredstudents@unsw.edu.au
- Invoicing for sponsor organisations
- Academic results monitoring
- Changes in enrolment
Invoicing for sponsor organisations
The Sponsor Accounts Receivable team sends Sponsor Billing Statements/Invoices approximately one week after the Census date of each term (three times per year). For any finance related inquiries, please contact our Sponsor Account Receivable team at sponsor.ar@unsw.edu.au.
Academic results monitoring
If you’d like to view the transcript of your sponsored student after results are released each term, please email sponsoredstudents@unsw.edu.au with the student’s ID. You can find the university’s key dates here and learn more about UNSW’s grading system here.
Changes in enrolment
Sponsored students must obtain written approval from their sponsor for any changes to their enrolment, such as program or specialisation changes, or extensions to the duration of study. This approval must be provided in the form of an updated Financial Guarantee letter.
Professional development for sponsors
UNSW collaborates with businesses, government and for-purpose organisations to co-create professional development programs. These initiatives are dedicated to upskilling and reskilling employees at all levels, from those on the front lines to top-tier executives.
Through the teaching and research excellence of our leading faculties and schools, including the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM), UNSW is committed to delivering a diverse array of professional development opportunities. Our goal is to ensure that your team is not only ready to meet the demands of today’s dynamic environment but also primed for the challenges of tomorrow.
