Dollar for Dementia
Building a national movement for brain health
For decades, Australians have come together to tackle the defining health challenges of our time. We transformed the conversation around cancer. We built a national movement for mental health. We invested, advocated, researched and refused to accept that things could not get better.
Now, dementia demands that same national resolve.
Dementia is Australia's leading cause of death and one of our biggest shared fears. It affects people from every walk of life, touching families, communities and workplaces across the nation. It crosses wealth, geography, politics and generations. Dementia is the health challenge of our time.
Yet there is reason for hope.
At the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA), world-leading researchers are advancing new discoveries in dementia prevention, early detection and treatment. Through global collaborations, cutting-edge research and a relentless commitment to improving brain health, CHeBA is helping shape a future where fewer Australians experience the devastating impact of dementia.
Under the powerful leadership of CHeBA's Co-Directors, Professor Perminder Sachdev AM and Professor Henry Brodaty AO, one of Australia's foremost authorities on ageing and dementia and the 2026 Senior Australian of the Year, Australia is uniquely positioned to lead the world in healthier brain ageing.
Our vision is ambitious but achievable: a future where Australians can age with healthier brains, where prevention is possible, where early detection enables timely intervention and where dementia no longer devastates so many lives.
To achieve that future, we need a movement that belongs to every Australian.
What is Dollar for Dementia?
Dollar for Dementia is a national giving campaign designed to turn concern into action.
Its idea is simple: every Australian can give one dollar - or more - and help accelerate progress against dementia.
That simplicity is its greatest strength. A single dollar becomes a visible act of support for healthier brain ageing, better prevention, earlier detection and life-changing research breakthroughs.
By bringing together individuals, families, businesses, philanthropists and communities, we can create the public momentum needed to drive lasting change. Dollar for Dementia provides every Australian with the opportunity to be part of a national response to dementia.
Campaign Ambassadors
The campaign is proudly supported by Adelaide and Lucinda Miller, creators of the acclaimed documentary Nansie, whose personal story has resonated with audiences across Australia and brought greater awareness to the realities of dementia.
Through their advocacy and storytelling, they are helping more Australians understand why dementia research matters and why action today can change lives tomorrow.
Join the Movement
Dementia affects us all. The opportunity to change its future belongs to all of us too.
One dollar. One act of support. One growing national movement.
Together, we can build a future with healthier brains, healthier ageing and less dementia.
