Meet Clinton Williams-Halroyd
Ranger Coordinator
About Clinton
Clinton Williams-Halroyd is a Ranger Coordinator in Far North Queensland. He leads a team of rangers who care for Country, protect important cultural places, manage wildlife, and look after the environment.
After finishing Year 12, Clinton wasn't sure what to do next. When an opportunity came up to help a local ranger group fence an important cultural site, he decided to give it a go. What started as a short-term job became a career.
Every day is different. Some days Clinton might be out on Country managing wildlife, others he’s planning environmental projects or teaching young people about caring for Country. His job uses STEM skills like applying his environmental science knowledge, problem-solving, planning and using different technologies.
For Clinton, being a ranger is about more than protecting the environment. He loves giving back to his community, being a positive role model and helping others succeed. He hopes to develop future Indigenous leaders and one day become a helicopter pilot!
His advice to young people? Show up, give things a go and take opportunities when they come. As Clinton says, "If I can do it, they can do it."
