Professor Zoe Terpening, Pro Vice-Chancellor – Precincts
As Pro Vice-Chancellor Precincts at UNSW, Zoe provides strategic leadership and oversight of the University's precinct portfolio. This includes the University's flagship precinct initiatives in Randwick, Greater Sydney (including Western Sydney) and Canberra City.
With extensive experience in precinct development and large-scale projects, she has spearheaded transformative initiatives across diverse sectors, often in non-traditional settings that challenge the boundaries of innovation and collaboration.
She has successfully delivered strategic health projects for Go8 universities, playing a pivotal role in shaping UNSW’s leading health precinct developments. These include the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct, the Liverpool Innovation Precinct, the Murrumbidgee Health & Knowledge Precinct, and several other health and innovation precincts across the State.
Zoe is a trained clinician and research academic in neurosciences who joined UNSW in 2018. Before her role at UNSW, she was a clinical academic researcher at The University of Sydney, where she explored mediators of cognitive decline and neurodegeneration in older adults.
Her leadership in complex projects fosters dynamic innovation ecosystems that accelerate translation, drive collaboration, and deliver measurable social benefits, while strengthening partnerships with key external stakeholders.
UNSW’s Precincts team
Zoe leads an agile team who manage the strategic and operational aspects of UNSW precincts. These areas include governance, operations, finance, IT, change management, engagement and communications. She collaborates closely with UNSW’s facilities management, advancement and government relations while aligning opportunities across all UNSW Faculties and Divisions.
The team works alongside our external partners to deliver impactful and transformative work.
