Diverse Belonging

March - April 2026

Personalise
Artist: Ishaan Kapoor, The Hive Within, Diverse Belonging installation

Diverse Belonging presented artworks from the Disability Innovation Institute (DIIU) UNSW student competition. The competition invited students to share their vision of disability and belonging through art.

Each work shared a unique perspective. Students responded with a wide range of creative approaches - submitting photographs, digital art, drawings, painting and collage.

Artworks entered in the competition were judged by a panel of experts in the fields of art and disability inclusion. The Opening event was held on 20 March 2026. The winning and highly commended works were on display at the UNSW Health Translation Hub, along with the People’s Choice award, voted for by UNSW staff and students.

Diverse Belonging celebrated the strength, creativity and innovation that emerge from diverse bodies and minds. Each artwork was accompanied by the artist’s statement, offering insight into the meaning behind their work.

Presented in partnership with the UNSW Disability Innovation Institute, Creative Communities and the Health Translation Hub, the exhibition reflected UNSW’s Progress for All strategy.
